Take her out to a wonderful restaurant. Take some pics. of her son and have a throw with his picture made on it or you can make her a small scrap book with all of your pictures together (or have someone do that for ya). Buy her a baby birthstone bracelet or necklace with her son’s birthstone.

Well Since she is a mother to a young child…maybe she might like a day out by herself, maybe get her a voucher to a spa, to get face masks, massages, pedicure & manicure etc…i think any mother/woman would enjoy that!!!

I think that first of all it is important that you make sure her son is with you guys on this motherday date. It is motherday after all.
I would pack a picnic up and take them to the park with a nice picnic lunch. Fresh air is great for little ones and there is just something romantic about picnic even when the kids are there! As far as a gift perhaps a tree that she can plant from her son… even though you bought it… she will know the difference. You can write a poem from him about the tree growing and him growing. I guess that there is always jewlery but I do not think that a mom needs jewlery for eveything. SOmtimes it is the sentiment that is more important. Perhaps a letter about how great you think she is would be nice also. You said that nobody has ever given her anything. It is nice to boost her esteem.
