Day camping, pack a picnic, a blanket and head for the park.
Look in the entertainment section in your local (small neighbor, usually free) newspaper for ideas of free concerts at the local schools. Visit the local nursing homes. Volunteer together at the clothing centers or senior citizens lunches. Maybe put on a act together, maybe sing the old folks a song or two and read a story to them. Adopt a grandpa. What is your own grandma doing with her time. Maybe one of you have a long lost parent you two can locate and visit. Think about the veterans centers. Have a magazine drive and gather books for the local clinics waiting rooms.
Take a crazy bus trip together to a different part of town and window shop. China town, Asian market, Mexican areas, think culture. Have friend - have fun!
