la salope asked:
Good first date ideas/location in the South SF Bay/San Jose Area?
Nothing typical. No beaches or travels out of town for a first date. Just lloking for something fun to do together to break the ice. We are both 28 year old professional types, if that helps. Dinner is already planned and taken care of.

i’d go go kart racing in burlingame, then swoop right over to steelhead or straits on burlingame ave, which is right around the corner, for a couple of drinks.
also i hear the “kooza cirque du soleil” is pretty cool to check out too, since they’re in town till the 20th.

I always think mini golf is the best first date. It is not only fun and get to reconnect with your youth, but also see how they are with competition. It also allows you to talk and get to know each other (as opposed to a movie).
Another fun place is Sky High Sports which is a place with huge trampolines. It’s super fun but also a good workout so be prepared to show your sweat! Also, at certain times, it’s full of young people. Maybe better as a subsequent date.
As for dinner, Tonto is fantastic. It is like Japanese tapas. It is casual. If you want to splurge, take her to La Fondue in Saratoga. It is an incredible culinary experience and can be very fun and romantic to do together.

what does this have to do with dining out

There’s always a museum like The Rosicrucian or San Jose Museum of Art that make for an interesting first date if you both like art. Bowling or shooting pool could be casual and fun as well. If you’re both kids at heart and the weather is good, you could even try Happy Hollow Zoo. There are dozens of things to do in the Bay Area if you get out of the typical date mindset. : )
